SKH favourites

A collection of my favourite places to eat, drink, and explore in my local neighbourhood, Dalston.

Hectors

49A Ardleigh Road, London, N1 4HS

An intimate Wine bar that is so lovely, in a period Georgian building. Feels like you’re having gorgeous wine and nibbles in your mates living room in front of a fire place.

Towpath Cafe

42 De Beauvoir Crescent, London N1 5SB

Pretty, seasonal spot on the canal, about a 15 min walk from SKH.

Dusty Knuckle Bakery

Abbot Street Carpark, London E8 3DP

Coolest bakery in Hackney - and they do great breakfast on the weekend. Worth the wait, if you don’t mind the queue.

Dalston Route Cafe

Unit A Gaumont Tower, Dalston Square, London E8 3BQ

My neighbourhood staple, for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.

Pepper & Spice Take Away

40 Balls Pond ROAd, London N1 4AU

A staple in Dalston. The food is great! They do take their time, so be prepared to wait a little - but hey its Caribbean food, so always needs a tender, slower pace. Also, you might bump into Harry Styles in the queue too!

hōm

unit 1, sledge tower, Dalston Square, London E8 3GP

hōm is defo my fave coffee shop in Dalston! I 'm being a little biased as the gorgeous spot is literally a coffee shop version of SKH... seriously, check it out - you'll know what I mean.

STRELITZIA

515 Kingsland Road, London E8 4AR

Lovely local cafe. A place I pop to for all my bits - even the fancy tinned tuna and its fancy price... yes, I have become that person.

The staff are so lovely and they play the best reggae playlists. I’m always Shazaming and adding to the SKH playlist. (Sharing is caring...ha!)

Dalston Curve Garden

13 Dalston Lane, London E8 3DF (next to Hackney Peace Carnival Mural)

The heart of the hood, with a community spirit. Love it!

Great to bring your homemade lunch or a takeaway, and sit amongst the wild but pretty garden and Dalston locals.

Mu

432-434 Kingsland Road, London E8 4AA

An amazing, hidden gem in Dalston. Like a 2024 Ronnie Scott’s on da ENDZ! Peruvian /Japanese restaurant/bar with live music.

PETIT GRIND

30 Balls Pond Road, London N1 4AU

Great specilist coffee. They do a well made very hot, oat milk flat white! (Note to any Friend of SKH who happens to be on a coffee run enroute to your appointment ....he he he!)

Any Turkish restaurant in Dalston!

144 Kingsland High StREET, London E8 2NS

They’re all pretty good! Ali Baba do great wraps!

KHP Social

48 Balls Pond ROAD, LONDON N1 4AP

Literally loviest social coffee shop.

Dalston Roof Top

18 – 22 Ashwin Street. Dalston. London E8 3DL

A great spot in the summer for a drink and view of Hackney.

Dan’s

2-4 Tottenham Road, London N1 4BZ

Great neighbourhood wine bar. 3 mins walk from SKH. Where we had our opening drinks.

Albers

23a Englefield ROAd, London N1 4JX

This gorgeous restaurant is on the corner of De Beauvoir Road (about an 8 min walk from SKH).

Great place for coffee with an egg and sausage butty…YUM! They did a cute thing of offering £3 coffees all summer!  If you fancy a sit down lunch - do it! The space is tastefully designed and the lunch is delicious. I can’t wait to go back for dinner!

LF MARKEY (London)

50 Dalston Lane, London, E8 3AH

I love this shop so much! For thoes that fancy a little retail therapy, this spot is the one for fun clothes, comfort, colours and banging jumpsuits/overalls.

I may as well consider the items I have from LF MARKEY my work uniform...so much so, that a Friend of SKH said to me "Oh you look great Subrina, you really came dressed to work.” Ha!
